2024 SLCGA LADIES 50+ CHAMPIONSHIP
Oake Manor were the perfect hosts for our championship for the 'slightly more mature' women in our county. Everything was well-organised from start to finish, so a huge thank you goes to Sheila our delegate, with help from Jenny & Liz plus lots of other volunteers who provided a very welcome well-stocked half-way house which helped to top up my chocolate craving! The course was in superb condition, borne out by some exceptional scores. Amanda Mayne beat the course record with a gross 70 to claim the Sally Irlam Trophy (photo to follow) and Janet Fear somehow kept her head to post a nett 62 and win the Margaret Webber trophy. Congratulations to both but also to all of the winners. A link to all the scores is above, plus a link to all the prize winners. Amanda will now go on to compete in the EG Champion of Champions in September at Woodall Spa and we wish her all the very best for this event. Next competition is Handicap Championships at Isle of Wedmore on Friday 16 August - hope to see you there! Angie (Comp Sec) |

2023 SLCGA LaDIES 50+ CHAMPIONSHIP
36 ladies of a certain age arrived at a very welcoming Saltford GC for the 50+ Championship.
Complimentary tea/coffee & pastries etc was very much appreciated. Chris, Alison and Carol welcomed the Ladies, Dave and Ian were excellent starters and took some cracking photographs (see our Facebook page) Thank you to Janet who was the referee for the day, but thankfully wasn’t called upon. As the scores started coming the common theme was that it was tough going, players stayed dry, but had a strong wind to contend with. The course was looking nice and lush, some ladies found the greens tricky, other players admitted to a club “operator error”! Even so, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day, some played the course for the first time and have threatened to play it again. Amanda from Saltford won the overall gross and the Sally Irlam trophy with a score of 80. Louise from Bath took the Margaret Webber trophy for best Nett with 76. There were just two twos. Please see the photos for the winners in the age related categories or click on the links at the top right of the page for full details of the score and prizes. My thanks to everyone who took part and all those involved in making the championship such a successful day. Next county competition - Handicap Championships at Enmore Park on 11th August … see you there Jackie McD Comp Sec |
