PAST CAPTAINS TEAM EVENTs
2026 TEAM EVENT (18TH)
Donnington Valley
Sunday 17 - Monday 18 May 2026
Despite the gloomy weather forecast for our two day Team Event at Donnington, the weather was certainly kind on the first day if not cool and blustery on the second with some of the ladies wearing their wool hats!! We did however keep dry which was a bonus.
72 Past Captains enjoyed some exciting and difficult golf at times as there was a bit of run on the ball and the greens were fast. The scores were generally quite high and 11 ladies secured a two, mostly on the par threes but a couple were achieved on par fours!!
Our three course dinner on Sunday was very good and it was interesting to know they had just acquired a new chef. Our appreciation has been sent to him and the rest of the Management and staff.
Unfortunately, the golf club catering had not adhered to our request about the distribution of the sandwiches, etc., on Monday so there was a long queue and a lot of frustration. This has been addressed and when we return to Donnington in the future, things will certainly be different.
The overall winners were the Hole in the Wall Fun Gang with Used 2 Bees in second place. There was only 10 points between 1st and 8th place. Congratulations to them and everyone else who received prizes.
Next year, this event will be held at St. Pierre, Chepstow, with 2 rounds on the Old Course, day one being a two tee start and the second a shotgun start. Applications to enter will be available on 1 August 2026.
The Committee look forward to welcoming you to that and our other events during this year and next.

2025 TEAM EVENT (17th)
Donnington Valley
Sunday 18 - Monday 19 May
The event started with the arrival of all the teams very promptly and the volume of noise in the club house was indicative of how much everyone was delighted to be seeing old friends again. Following bacon sandwiches and refreshments we all started our game half an hour earlier than anticipated. It was a little chilly to start with but eventually the sun came out and everyone was back to the clubhouse, then to the hotel with time to spare for a spa, swim or just a general relax after the early start.
Our evening meal was full of fun and laughter but not too late into the evening and we managed to avoid ‘bad heads’ for our game on the Monday.
Following a wonderful breakfast, we commenced another shot gun start in conditions that were similar to the day before. The scores for this day were generally a lot higher than the previous round and everyone was amazed at the number of 2’s – 12 in total.
The sandwiches and chips were well received and after the prize giving everyone managed to get away for their journeys home before the rush hour.
Another memorable Team Event – we are already looking forward to next year when we shall be again at Donnington Valley on 17/18 May 2026.
