ROGERS CUP FINAL 4 SEPTEMBER 2022
|
FINAL RESULTS - ALL MATCHES 2022
WIN FOR WHEATHILL |
Two of the smaller clubs in the county, Orchardleigh and Wheathill, played in this year's final, on a blowy but warm and dry afternoon.
The various matches were nip and tuck, but unfortunately one Wheathill player had to retire on the 3rd, feeling less than par. That did not deter the team from valiantly fighting on. The score was 3 matches per team, all resting on the final putt of last match on the 18th. It could not have been closer, but Wheathill just pipped Orchardleigh. The Mendip golf course was in great condition and hosted the finals well. Many thanks to all the staff for their assistance in running this event. A big thank you to Janet Fear who was present as referee and well played to both teams who made this an exciting final. |
The Seasons finale was held at Wells GC. It was a blowy, blustery, umbrellas up, umbrellas down sort of day. This did not deter the Ladies from Farrington Park and Isle of Wedmore from leading the way in the Rogers Cup.
All the matches were tightly fought and there was some excellent golf on display to entertain the followers. After, Isle of Wedmore and Worlebury went out to play the final of the Centenary Plate. Many matches went the distance and in the end it was a victorious day for the Isle of Wedmore winning both finals with a winning score of 4/3. My thanks to Wells Golf Club, our course referees Janet Fear and Alison Lee, thanks also to the supporters for the noise! Can I also thank the “Exec “ for ongoing support throughout this odd year, but most of all to you the ladies who have supported all the County Competitions over this year. Finally, Worlebury, Farrington Park, Isle of Wedmore .. thank you for a lovely afternoon of good golf. Well played. |
