ROGERS CUP FINAL 6 SEPTEMBER 2026
TAUNTON & PICKERIDGE GOLF CLUB |
After starting in April 2026 with 21 teams, it all came down to the final day at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club.
Unfortunately prior to starting the rounds, Cannington had to withdraw from the event, due to injury, resulting in one club moving straight into the third round. However, today the sun was out with a breeze to keep the focus. The recent hot, dry conditions had left the inevitable unpredictable bounce. Congratulations to both clubs for getting their team to the final. The winners this year, after being runners-up last year are Stockwood Vale. Very well done. Commiserations to Burnham and Berrow who fought hard to test their opponents.
Taunton and Pickeridge were excellent hosts, resulting in the whole day running smoothly. Thank you to Rose Jarvis for thinking of everything in the run up to the day. Thank you to the green staff for presenting the course in the best condition they could. To Ellie Shattock and her team for providing an excellent post match tea and keeping everyone fed and watered throughout the day. Thank you to Lyn Gridley, the Ladies Captain, who welcomed the players and caddies early on in the day and then returning to support and celebrate the winners. Jason Avery in the pro shop, thank you.
Janet Fear and Jeanette Cooke were on hand to referee and both had an easy Sunday. Janet had her presidential hat on to start all the matches and present the trophies. Thank you for giving of your time, it is much appreciated.

WIN FOR TAUNTON & PICKERIDGE |
I could just copy and paste last year's weather forecast for the day. We awoke to heavy rain, thunder and lightning with the course closed. However, good fortune turned that around, so by the time the players teed off at 1.30, the threat was gone. It did however, rain intermittently, with wind and a chill factor, so conditions were... challenging!
Tables were turned from last year's results where the same two teams met. This time, Taunton & Pickeridge won 4 of the matches, with a 5th being a draw, not needing to go up the first again as the victory was already in the bag. Congratulations to T&P who have been in the final for the last three years.
Commiserations to Stockwood Vale who put up a good fight for a very small women's section.
A huge thank you goes to The Mendip who were able to host the final with little notice, as the planned venue of T&P, with Stockwood Vale as a spare was not sign to work with both teams in the final. The post-match tea and cake selection was thoroughly appreciated by all.
And thanks to Jeanette Cook & James Wilde, our referees for the day, and Sandra Ford for starting the matches and presenting the trophies.
