SLPC v Past Club Captains
at Wheathill Golf Club 30th June 2026 The Result: SLPC 3, Past Club Captains 5 The annual match between the SLPC and the Somerset Club Captains on Tuesday 30th June was unfortunately a win to the Club Captains 5 to 3 but a very good day was had by all the players and almost all of the matches were very close. The highlight for the Ladies team was a brilliant 5/4 win by Susie Gibbins and Sue Kingston. The weather was very kind despite warnings of rain which held off until the journey home. We had a lovely meal served as we came in in our groups of fours, desserts to die for! Everyone at Wheathill was very welcoming too. Brian Reeve a member for the Gents team for a while now donated a lovely Rose Bowl for this annual match though, sadly I had to present it to Marcus their Captain of Captains for 2026. Now we need to try extra hard in 2027 to win the Bowl. Report by Claire Biggs |

SLPC v Cornwall at Enmore Park Golf Club 13th April 2026 The Result: SLPC 1, Cornwall 6 The match against Cornwall was played at Enmore Park on a beautiful sunny day, shirt sleeves only for many of us. We had a very enjoyable time though Cornwall won 6/1, the games were all enjoyed especially Louise and Claire who won the one game on the 18th after what was a very close game. An excellent meal provide by Enmore was a lovely way to finish the day and the noise in the room showed how much everyone enjoyed themselves. Report by Claire Biggs |

SLPC v Devon
at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club 1st June 2026 The Result: SLPC 3, Devon 4 The match against Devon yesterday was played at Taunton and Pickeridge in very good spirits. The course is challenging and interesting and I think we all enjoyed playing there. The T&P ladies’ captain, Lyn, kindly welcomed us on arrival and made sure the changing rooms were well stocked with pink hand towels for our use. The heavy rain that had been forecast didn’t arrive until later in the day, so the first groups in were fairly dry., although the last group were rather wet and cold. There were some issues with the 2 buggies used by the Devon players, as they are programmed not to go into certain areas of the course and 1 player had to be rescued by the Pros from the 18th tee when her buggy became completely stuck and not even there Pros could move it so the poor buggy had to be abandoned in the rain for the evening! Taunton and Pickeridge were excellent hosts and everything went smoothly, the meal (salmon/lasagne & crumble/choc tart) was tasty and plentiful, with the various dietary requirements being met. I did have a lot of difficulty getting a full team together and had to add in lots of extra players from the additional list of available players and committee members. I had no reserves on the actual day as my 3 reserves were all used when ladies dropped out within the last week. Report by Louise Buxton |

SLPC v Gwent
at Clevedon Golf Club 22nd June 2026 The Result: SLPC 2, Gwent 6 Everyone arrived in plenty of time. The course played really well and was enjoyed by all. It was very warm and some ladies struggled in such weather. Unfortunately the last 4 groups curtailed their matches due to thunder and lightning. These matches were taken to be all square.
