SLPC v Gloucestershire
at Knowle Golf Club 22nd September 2026 It was great to play the last match of the season in good weather as the sun shone as we played around the Knowle golf course. It was fabulous to welcome six new past captains to their first match for SLPC. SLPC sadly lost 5-2, however so many of the games were close reflecting good play by everyone. It was helpful to a rolling system for the meal which made the occasion run smoothly. Knowle Golf Club provided an excellent meal enjoyed by all. Gwen Cavill |

SLPC v Dorset
at The Mendip Golf Club 6th August 2026 We arrived at The Mendip to slightly cooler weather which was a relief. We were welcomed with coffee served in our own section of the clubhouse which allowed the teams to chat and renew acquaintances. The meal following the match was excellent, served in eights as we came in. The slopes on the course meant that we had to keep a close eye on every ball as it wasn’t always clear where it might end up. All of the matches were closely fought and the match could have gone either way with two halves and two matches decided on the 18th. In the end Dorset prevailed with a 5-3 win over Somerset. SLPC v Wiltshire
at Upavon Golf Club 4 August 2026 Slightly cooler weather and a bit of cloud cover greeted us at Upavon Golf Club where the course was quite hilly in places with lots of slopes and undulations. The cool breeze kept us going along with a series of aeroplanes flying over to the nearby RAF station and some spectacular views from the top of the hill. The matches were all quite close with the final result being 4 games to each side. The catering staff were excellent and very attentive to dietary requirements, checking each team as they came in. Food was served team by team which meant everything was freshly prepared. A lovely day all round. Report by Susie Gibbins |

SLPC v Hampshire
at South Winchester Golf Club 16th July 2026 The Result: SLPC 2, Hampshire 5 Many thanks go to all the Somerset players for travelling a significant way to play at South Winchester Golf Club. A golf course with wide open fairways and many fairway bunkers which quite a few of us found in our games!! We played in rather warm weather however the welcome breeze helped us survive the golfing challenges. The game was played in a friendly and welcoming manner sadly we lost 5&2. The match results were close, and Angie Frith and Sandra Ford saved us from a total loss. Report by Gwen Cavill |

SLPC v Past Club Captains
at Wheathill Golf Club 30th June 2026 The Result: SLPC 3, Past Club Captains 5 The annual match between the SLPC and the Somerset Club Captains on Tuesday 30th June was unfortunately a win to the Club Captains 5 to 3 but a very good day was had by all the players and almost all of the matches were very close. The highlight for the Ladies team was a brilliant 5/4 win by Susie Gibbins and Sue Kingston. The weather was very kind despite warnings of rain which held off until the journey home. We had a lovely meal served as we came in in our groups of fours, desserts to die for! Everyone at Wheathill was very welcoming too. Brian Reeve a member for the Gents team for a while now donated a lovely Rose Bowl for this annual match though, sadly I had to present it to Marcus their Captain of Captains for 2026. Now we need to try extra hard in 2027 to win the Bowl. Report by Claire Biggs |

SLPC v Cornwall at Enmore Park Golf Club 13th April 2026 The Result: SLPC 1, Cornwall 6 The match against Cornwall was played at Enmore Park on a beautiful sunny day, shirt sleeves only for many of us. We had a very enjoyable time though Cornwall won 6/1, the games were all enjoyed especially Louise and Claire who won the one game on the 18th after what was a very close game. An excellent meal provide by Enmore was a lovely way to finish the day and the noise in the room showed how much everyone enjoyed themselves. Report by Claire Biggs |

SLPC v Devon
at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club 1st June 2026 The Result: SLPC 3, Devon 4 The match against Devon yesterday was played at Taunton and Pickeridge in very good spirits. The course is challenging and interesting and I think we all enjoyed playing there. The T&P ladies’ captain, Lyn, kindly welcomed us on arrival and made sure the changing rooms were well stocked with pink hand towels for our use. The heavy rain that had been forecast didn’t arrive until later in the day, so the first groups in were fairly dry., although the last group were rather wet and cold. There were some issues with the 2 buggies used by the Devon players, as they are programmed not to go into certain areas of the course and 1 player had to be rescued by the Pros from the 18th tee when her buggy became completely stuck and not even there Pros could move it so the poor buggy had to be abandoned in the rain for the evening! Taunton and Pickeridge were excellent hosts and everything went smoothly, the meal (salmon/lasagne & crumble/choc tart) was tasty and plentiful, with the various dietary requirements being met. I did have a lot of difficulty getting a full team together and had to add in lots of extra players from the additional list of available players and committee members. I had no reserves on the actual day as my 3 reserves were all used when ladies dropped out within the last week. Report by Louise Buxton |

SLPC v Gwent
at Clevedon Golf Club 22nd June 2026 The Result: SLPC 2, Gwent 6 Everyone arrived in plenty of time. The course played really well and was enjoyed by all. It was very warm and some ladies struggled in such weather. Unfortunately the last 4 groups curtailed their matches due to thunder and lightning. These matches were taken to be all square.
