SECOND TEAM FINALS REPORT - 28 SEPTEMBER AT TIVERTON

We played defending champions Devon in the second team finals on Sunday 28 September at Tiverton Golf Club in glorious weather. 

The morning foursomes were hard fought and although we were down in all three matches we managed to secure two halves giving Devon a 2-1 lead. 

The team played really well in our singles matches and with two matches still to finish we were 2-2 for the session so we needed both points for a win. Sara held out for an excellent half and Abi had all those dressed in green holding their breath as she sunk a great putt to win her match on the 18th. 

Having won the afternoon singles 3.5-2.5 and therefore tied 4.5 points each we had to take the halved match to a sudden death play off. Sara held her nerve but her opponent played an excellent approach shot and birdied the hole to secure the win for Devon. 

We should be proud of the team for their performance and for all players who have helped us get to the finals this year. 

Finally, we celebrated two of our team receiving their second team colours. Congratulations to Milly Pearce and Abi Whittock for this achievement.

MATCH REPORT - SECOND TEAM

​We played our second team match against Wiltshire at Rushmore GC on Sunday 14 September.

The team faced difficult conditions but this time it was strong winds and rain. In the morning the team delivered an excellent 3-0 win in foursomes in dry weather with light winds. The afternoon was completely different with rain from the first tee and gusty winds throughout the round. However, the team did a great job and delivered a 4-2 win in the singles. 

With this 7-2 win we have reached the second team finals to be played at Tiverton GC on 28 September 2025.

MATCH REPORT - SECOND TEAM 

​We played our home second team match at Clevedon on Sunday 27 July against Gloucestershire. 

The players coped well with the dry conditions and some great golf was played. The three morning foursomes matches were all won by Somerset and the afternoon singles were halved, resulting in an overall 6-3 win for Somerset.  Many congratulations to the team, captained by Denise Overson.
