2022 Handicap Championships held at mendip spring golf club
This is the busiest event in the County Calendar as we have three separate competitions running simultaneously…we like to offer golf to all our members irrespective of handicap.
Mendip Spring GC hosted us and after weeks of dry sunny weather we had few showers which allowed golfers to see a colour called “green” on the fairways. Thankfully the ground had softened up slightly and the golfing weather gods were in our favour.
The players battled trees and water on the course and the Comp Sec battled IG on the computer. Thankfully we resolved the issues just about in time!
17 ladies played the 9 hole course with Trudy (Mendip Spring) being the overall champ.
In the Stableford, 26 ladies took part with Tina (Long Sutton ) topping the list.
The medal competition saw 42 players battling it out with Lesley (Tickenham) taking the best nett and Amanda (Saltford) taking the best gross.
We also had competitions within competitions, so the Dickinson Cup was won by Doreen (Burnham & Berrow), the Barlow Cup went to Tina (Long Sutton) and the Grass Roots Cup went to Kathy (Wells). Please see the published winners list above for other prizes and vouchers.
As always, my thanks Pat and Gill for registration, Allan for starter duties, Pauline for 9 hole starter, the day's “runner” and all the help in setting the event up, Gordon, who was slightly disappointed that he didn’t need to use his “lightening app”, Alison, Zena and Eileen for refereeing. I understand they were actually asked for rulings this time out.
My thanks to all of you who played and made this such a good event.
