2024 HANDICAP CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD AT ISLE OF WEDMORE GOLF CLUB
The weather shone for the full field of 84 competitors who came to compete in a mixture of medals, stablefords and the 9-hole competition. This is the busiest of all the competitions that we run during the year, with a mass of silverware and vouchers available to those who can pull their best games out of the bag.
A huge thank you to Lyn Bird & Cathy Olive who were there to greet us at 8am and turned their hands to anything that needed doing during the day, from the welcome desk to starter duties, inputting scores .... and providing us with sweets to keep us going! Our thanks extend to all at Wedmore who helped us to host this event, from the office to catering, the professional shop and greens staff who provided a great clubhouse & course for us to enjoy.
We couldn't run these competitions without the expertise and guidance of our wonderful referees, so many thanks to Alison, Janet, James and Eileen for working in shifts to cover all parts of the course and the various queries.
There were some super scores ..... and some 'not quite so good' ones, as many came in saying they found it a tough course, so hats off to those who did so well. And 7 twos, Lesley Wills getting 2 of them!
Many stayed for the presentations so there was a good atmosphere in the clubhouse to cheer the winners. All are now e-Gift Cards from M&S as it is so much more efficient to email them. Winners (see link above) can expect them in the next couple of days.

2023 Handicap Championships held at ENMORE PARK golf club
What a fabulous day!
80+ ladies arrived at the green lush Enmore Park GC for the combined handicap championships….well that was until there was a accident that closed the M5 in both directions.
All were greeted, welcomed and briefed by Julie, Jackie, Alison, Alison Chris and Anne and together with Tina they shared starter duties.
Can I say a massive thank you to all those ladies and LC Jo Wyatt who spent so much time beforehand ensuring everything went seamlessly.
The M5 closure caused many problems for organisers and players, but the Enmore ladies did a fantastic job in rearranging tee times.
Zena, Eileen, Linda and Janet again gave up their time to be in course referees, thank you.
As for the golf, well, there were some good scores in and most seemed to enjoy the course even if it was tough in places and the rough proved a bit tricky.
We were able to present a few of the trophies and vouchers. Please see the link above for all the full winners details. If you were unable to stay to receive your trophy, you are invited to our AGM in November to have your moment of glory!
