Somerset Ladies County Bowmaker held at Oake Manor 16th June 2021
Sixty-nine ladies arrived safely at Oake Manor Golf Club today despite the normal route being closed unexpectedly! Some including myself looked shell shocked after journeying along grassy roads. The sun shone all day and the course looked beautiful. Swans and cygnets, ducks and duckling added the ‘ahh’ factor. The Registration and scoring team of Sheila, Pam and Sally (Lady Captain) stayed all day giving out cards, starting and scoring. A real joy for the organiser!
Scores were very good with the six winning teams playing some great golf:
1st Place Louise Buxton (16), Samantha Robinson (15) and Kathryn Anthony (13) from Bath GC winning £50 each
2nd Place Shane Bordier (7), Helen White (19) and Rosemary Webber from Burnham and Berrow GC, Oake Manor GC and Oake Manor GC winning £45 each
3rd Place Jeanette Cook (20), Natasha Bowden (9) and June Boulton (18) from Saltford GC, Burnham & Berrow GC and Saltford GC winning £40 each
4th Place Patsy Hurst (31), Hazel Buley (31) and Jackie Hallett (30) from Stockwood Vale GC winning £35 each.
5th Place Amanda Woodford (34), Sally Thomas (31) and Suzanne Boydell (29) from Vivary Park GC winning £30 each.
6th Place Dale Knight (35), Diane Squance (31) and Sandra Eaton (35) from Vivary Park GC winning £25 each.
Oake Manor GC staff were all excellent and the Covid procedures were followed.
The next County Competition is 50+ Championship at Brean – enter now!
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions it was not possible to hold a presentation but we thought you might like to see the rather wonderful Welcome Board Oake Manor Golf Club had prepared for us
BOWMAKER RESULTS 2019
The day was wet, windy and cool but 60 ladies bravely set out from the first tee at Bath Golf Club for the County Bowmaker.
One team withdrew on the 7th hole due to injury, but the remaining 57 battled on in frequent torrential showers with the cream of Bath GC rising to the top.
Stephanie Moorfoot, Anita Bye and Veronica Creed (pictured on the right with Vice President, Linda Hill) amassing an excellent 73 points off 90% handicap in very trying conditions, a clear 9 points ahead of second placed team of Angie Frith, Samantha Robinson and Louise Buxton who scored 64 points, also from Bath.
Only two 2’s were achieved, Honor Jones, Bath and Helen Clarke, Worlebury both on hole 14.
Thanks to Samantha Robinson, Bath County Delegate, for all her hard work before and after the competition, her daughter Charlotte who raised £160 by selling raffle tickets, the proceeds of which will be shared between Bath Ladies Captains Charity and the County Juniors, and Andy Robinson who stood in the rain for 3 ½ hours starting all the teams.
Thanks also to the Ladies who assisted on the reception desk, wrote up the results board, provided flowers, the Office staff for their input, the caterers for keeping us fed and watered but especially the green keepers who presented the course in a playable condition despite the unseasonable weather.
