SLCGA Bowmaker held at The Mendip Golf Club on 09 July 2026
63 women turned up to play the fun three-ball County Bowmaker on a blisteringly hot day. Armed with umbrellas for DIY shade, lots of water and cool towels, some competitors did not quite make it to the 18th. But despite being in the middle of the latest 2026 heatwave, some excellent scores were posted.
Huge thanks to The Mendip for all their help and support before and on the day. Stuart and Steve welcomed us, Susie took over efficiently running the registration desk and Anne was our Starter for the morning. They had arranged the table when we arrived for registration, and then again for the prizes afterwards. It made our jobs very easy so we were able to join in the competition without any stress..
The course was excellent condition, set up for their championship at the weekend and looking & playing in A1 condition. It was very much appreciated. And thanks also to the very welcoming helpful bar staff who kept us fed & watered both before and after play.

Somerset Ladies County Bowmaker held at Tall Pines Golf Club on 4th June 2025 2025 FULL RESULTS
19 teams participated in the three-ball bowmaker on a warm and (thankfully) mostly dry day. There was a lot of surface water from the day before, but much more pleasant to have underfoot than raining down on us!
Tall Pines could not have been more hospitable, with a super welcome from Paul the Pro and Christine the Ladies Captain, followed swiftly by Mike the starter, with clearly a ready wit.
The course was in excellent condition, despite the recent heavy rainfall, with the greens being true and fast...... especially the 9th where gravity was a major force to overcome; a tricky nearest the pin for the lower handicappers.
The catering was excellent and many thanks to the whole club for making our event so successful.
