Somerset Ladies County Bowmaker held at Tall Pines Golf Club on 4th June 2025
19 teams participated in the three-ball bowmaker on a warm and (thankfully) mostly dry day. There was a lot of surface water from the day before, but much more pleasant to have underfoot than raining down on us!
Tall Pines could not have been more hospitable, with a super welcome from Paul the Pro and Christine the Ladies Captain, followed swiftly by Mike the starter, with clearly a ready wit.
The course was in excellent condition, despite the recent heavy rainfall, with the greens being true and fast...... especially the 9th where gravity was a major force to overcome; a tricky nearest the pin for the lower handicappers.
The catering was excellent and many thanks to the whole club for making our event so successful.

A full field of seventy-eight women competed in this ever popular event, in warm dry weather, a relief for all after such a wet spring. Thank you so much to Katrina (County Delegate) for helping to ensure this all ran smoothly, and to Phillippa (Ladies Captain) & Mary for helping with Starter duties. Thanks also to Paul (Club Manager) for being very accommodating when fixing this event and the catering staff for ensuring we were all provided with good sustenance.
Comments from competitors were that the course is lovely but the going was tough, with so much rain recently and lots seemed flummoxed by the greens, hence scoring was not high.
