WHEATHILL GOLF CLUB WEDNESDAY 17 SEPTEMBER 2025 Due to unavoidable issues, the Competitions Secretaries and others from the exec committee were unable to be at this event so I am extremely grateful to Norman Banfield for stepping in to ensure the competitor ran smoothly from the start of the day to the end. Wheathill were excellent hosts and thank you to Fiona Cruse, Ladies Captain who was a great help in sorting our starters, checkers, markers for the group on their own and anything else that needed doing on the day. Thanks to all those who helped on the day as the competitor was clearly a success. 34 competitors played in this event and congratulations to the winners with a helping of local knowledge were Janette Stewart and Jen Warmington form Wheathill with 39 points. Also with 39 points but pipped on count back were Lyn Bird & Mandy Vearncombe from the Isle of Wedmore who won the Fowler Lock Cups and 2nd Vouchers. There were five prizes in all - there is a link to the full results above. There were three twos - Lyn Bird (Isle of Wedmore) on the 11th and two from Pat Rodgers (Enmore Park) on 8th and 18th - that's tidy! Thank you again Norman, Fiona and the team at Wheathill Angie Frith, Comp Sec |

STOCKWOOD VALE GOLF CLUB THURSDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 2024 32 competitors played in wonderful warm but slightly windy conditions on a lovely autumn day. The course was clearly kind to some with not one, not two, but three teams reaching 42 points or more, triggering a WHS notification for handicap purposes. Stockwood Vale were perfect hosts, with lots of help and information before and during the competition. Thank you so much to Alison our delegate, Yvette for being on hand all day and her husband Alan who started all the groups. We must give a special mention to Heidi who was cleaning the cafe area when we arrived but became florist extraordaire to provide stylish arrangements for our prize table and around the clubhouse. What a talent! There were five lots of prizes awarded today to the five top scores, plus the Fowler Lock Pendants to the winners, Alison Powlesland & Jackie James from Stockwood Vale, and the Fowler Lock Cups to to the runners-up (and last year's too!) Julie Poole and Jackie Hallett also from Stockwood Vale. They are clearly a club on a winning streak! There were two 2's, both on the 4th, by Julie Poole & Sharon Watts. Thanks to all the competitors for supporting this event, making it such a success. Angie F Comp Sec |
