Welcome to the Somerset Ladies County Golf Association
SLCGA organise a number of golf competitions and team events throughout the year to encourage golfers of all abilities, including our junior girls. These competitions are not aimed at those who either play or aspire to play for the County teams, rather they are for all County members with a handicap. There are both gross and nett prizes in all competitions. These events are held at clubs around the County, giving ladies the opportunity to play sociable and competitive golf at several different courses each year. We look forward to continued success in encouraging golfers of all abilities. |
ELLIE HARPER
It is with great sadness that we learned that Ellie Harper passed away on Monday 30th January 2023. She was a past president of Somerset Ladies County Golf Association, serving 2016 - 2017 and provided the Harper Salver for the West of England Ladies Mid-Amateur Open Championship. She was a very well respected and liked lady and the County wishes her family and friends our sincerest condolences.

For those with low handicaps wishing to enter the West of England Amateur Open Ladies Championship and compete for the prestigious Harper Salver on 11th June 2023, please see the details here or visit the BDLGA website for further information

COURSE RATERS NEEDED!
Do you have an enquiring mind?
Are you the person who will look at course planners and work out how you will play your round? Are you willing to “ give back” to a sport that has given you so much? Somerset desperately needs volunteers to join our Course Rating team.
All golf clubs have to be reassessed every 10 years as part of WHS and to comply with the rules of handicapping. We hope to assess 4 clubs a year but we need your help in achieving this.
The role is intriguing and will certainly make you think about golf shots and the way you play a course in a different way.
If you would like to know more then we would love to hear from you. Please do make contact with Team Leader Susie Gibbins - susiegibbins7@gmail.com, 01275-874875 or 07875 620587

There appears to be some misinformation circulating saying that an announcement was made at the County AGM suggesting the SLCGA are changing our name from ”Ladies“ to “Women”.
This is not the case and no such announcement was made. We hope this clarifies the situation.
