SLCGA FOWLER BROOCHES - 4BBB at BREAN GOLF CLUB - THURSDAY APRIL 24 2025
We were so fortunate to have excellent spring weather for the first County competition of the season. The sun shone, the wind kept away and most were in shirt sleeves for a very enjoyable few hours of golf. Brean was in super condition, the fairways giving plenty of roll and the greens very fair ..... if you could read the borrows which foxed me at times.
I am so grateful to Carole, Ladies Captain and Linda, County Delegate, for helping prior to the event and then manning the registration desk to welcome all the players while I was busying myself with other bits & bobs.
Thank you also to the club management for the initial arrangements and to pro shop staff who were very willing to help with putting flags up. And last but definitely not least, thanks to Trevor, our cheerful and informative starter.

SLCGA FOWLER BROOCHES - 4BBB minehead & west Somerset GOLF CLUB thursDAY 18 APRIL 2024
The Fowler Brooches 4BBB started the 2024 County Competition season well. It was such a relief to see blue skies, sunshine and no forecast of rain all day. It didn't mention the howling wind in the afternoon (or 'slight breeze' as the local players call it)!
The course was in superb condition, with rare run on the fairways so far this year and greens that could compete with Augusta stimpmeter readings. Thank you so much to the club management and all their staff for their excellent hosting of the event, including a very welcome table of teas and coffees laid out for us, a super course and plenty of sustenance afterwards despite an issue with their own kitchen. Another huge thank you goes to their County Delegate Ruth, who arranged help on the welcome desk, a starter and markers for the unmatched pair. After an uncertain start with the A39 being closed following an accident for a short while, 25 pairs competed for the six voucher prizes available, the Fowler Brooches being awarded to the highest scoring pair, the Bath Shield awarded to the top 2 combined scores from players from the same club and 2’s competition. Thank you to everyone who participated and made the event a success to start the season Our next team event is the Bowmaker at Wells on 31 May. Angie Frith Competitions Secretary FULL RESULTS 2024 |
