SLCGA FOWLER BROOCHES - 4BBB COMBINED WITH SCSLGA WATTMAN TROPHIES 4BBB

What a way to start our 125 year celebrations, with balloons, complimentary SLCGA 125 ball markers and a party atmosphere, with champagne for the winners!
Once again the sun shone on a cloudless Spring day for the first of our new combined County and Seniors County events. We played the Fowler Brooches 4BBB and Wattman Trophies 4BBB together, which proved to be an excellent way to increase the numbers playing in this first competition of the season, with a record 56 entrants.
The Stockwood Vale course was in excellent condition, with fast, true greens and lots of roll on the fairways. We really appreciated all the help we were given beforehand from Martin - Club Manager and Julie - Ladies Captain. She had organised various volunteers so took over the registration desk which allowed Michelle and I to play (well Michelle played and I went along for the walk!) Thank you to Pauline & Rosemary for taking this on, and Rosemary again for a delightful flower arrangement for the prize table. We were very grateful to Club Captain Bill for being our starter today.
There were a few superb scores achieved today, with the winners coming in with 45 points and an anticipated handicap cut overnight! Many congratulations Janet and Helen.

SLCGA FOWLER BROOCHES - 4BBB at BREAN GOLF CLUB - THURSDAY APRIL 24 2025 - FULL RESULTS 2025
We were so fortunate to have excellent spring weather for the first County competition of the season. The sun shone, the wind kept away and most were in shirt sleeves for a very enjoyable few hours of golf. Brean was in super condition, the fairways giving plenty of roll and the greens very fair ..... if you could read the borrows which foxed me at times.
I am so grateful to Carole, Ladies Captain and Linda, County Delegate, for helping prior to the event and then manning the registration desk to welcome all the players while I was busying myself with other bits & bobs.
Thank you also to the club management for the initial arrangements and to pro shop staff who were very willing to help with putting flags up. And last but definitely not least, thanks to Trevor, our cheerful and informative starter.
