SUMMER MEETING
4 BBB STABLEFORD for the Barber Trophies MONDAY 27TH JULY 2026 at TAUNTON & PICKERIDGE GOLF CLUB 2025 holders: Di Yates and Yvonne Bate, Mendip Spring Golf Club 2026 winners: Jo Francis-Pope Lansdown GC, Heather Priestly Clevedon GC The weather remained kind to us for the SLPC Summer Meeting where 18 pairs played 4BB competition. The scores overall were very high – there was a lot of run on the fairways yet it was challenging to master the humps and bumps on the fairways, especially on the back 9. There were 3 twos: Claire Biggs on the 6th hole Jan Bishop on the 2nd hole Heather Kerr-Wilbur on the 2nd hole. The main competition to become winners of the Barber Trophies was very competitive. The winners were Jo Francis Pope from Lansdown GC and Heather Priestley Clevedon GC with an amazing 45 points. Other winners were: 2nd Angela Frith and Stephanie Moorfott from Bath GC with 42 points 3rd Susie Gibbins and Linda Reynolds from Clevedon GC with 42 points 4th Linda Johnson Wheathill GC and Les Wills Tickenham GC with 41 points 5th Eliza Vail and Sandra Ford Long Sutton GC with 41 points Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club supported the event by setting up welcome desk and providing a starter which worked very well. SPRING MEETING
COCKTAIL STABLEFORD for the Terry Lloyd Jenkins Sugar Bowls MONDAY 27TH APRIL 2026 at WELLS GOLF CLUB 2025 holders: Julie Blumgart and Jackie Woodman 2026 winners: Susie Gibbins and Heather Priestley What a wonderful day players could not have wished for better conditions – sunshine, warmth and a gentle breeze. Wells Golf Club welcomed SLPC to the club and provided excellent facilities for everyone to enjoy a drink and try out the special’s menu. New SLPC members played in the event and were welcomed to the organisation by Claire Biggs, the chairman. The results of the Cocktail Format competition were 1st Susie Gibbins and Heather Priestley Clevedon GC 39 points 2nd Claire Biggs and Diedre Wheadon Isle of Wedmore GC 37 points 3rd Erica Klim and Katrina Foote Wells GC 36 point (CB) 4TH Mel Rossi and Zena Balcombe Burnham and Berrow GC 36 points 5th Mary Rayment and Irene Dickinson Enmore Park GC 34 points (CB) Thanks go to Jo Francis Pope and Erica Klim for their excellent support. What a wonderful day players had at Clevedon Golf Club - a warm and friendly welcome and playing golf in the sunshine. Clevedon has such amazing views across the Bristol Channel and on the sunny day the coastline of Wales was very clear.
Good golf was played by everyone as the scores reflected.
The winners of the Barber Trophies were Di Yates and Yvonne Bate with a fantastic score of 48 points. Well done to the winners.
