SPRING MEETING - WEDNESDAY 14 MAY 2025 AT CRICKET ST. THOMAS GC
The first competition of the year, a 3 ball bowmaker was held at Cricket St Thomas golf club, the weather was perfect a beautiful sunny day with a slight breeze. This year 8 teams entered but unfortunately one team dropped out so on the day there were only 7 teams playing.
This is my first competition as Assistant Competition Secretary, a job made much easier on the day by the amazing support from Pro Shop Supervisor and PGA trainee Matt Contreras who was extremely helpful getting the cards ready for the competition along with Ruth Dowell and Barbara Shaw and for helping finalise the score cards and printing off the results. Ruth and Barbara were also there at the start to see all the teams off. Warm thanks to Maz Tricker who helped at the desk, fielding questions and helping with the ball raffle which raised £23 for the Children's hospice SW.
Also the event was supported on the day by committee members Sue Bamping Vice President and President Christine Harris who was there at the end to give out the Lumley Frank Trophy and prizes.
The winners of the competition were Stephanie Moorfoot, Janet Scilly, and Marilyn Kirby from Bath Golf Club who won with a great score of 80 points. Runners up were Ellie Langford, Frances Branchflower and Mary Bryant from Cricket St Thomas with a score of 78 points.
Well done to everyone it was a great day and congratulations to Bath and Cricket St Thomas.

spring meeting - wednesday 15 may 2024 at worlebury gc

There were 28 entries this year to our Spring Meeting - 4BBB but entering as pairs. Fortunately - given our recent weather - it stayed dry and although initially blustery and overcast, the final pairs came in through lovely sunshine.
As a club, Worlebury has made the Seniors exceptionally welcome and as this is my first meeting as Competitions Secretary, I am particularly grateful to our Delegate, Sue Kinch; Ladies’ Vice Captain Cheryl (and husband Barry who met you all as our starter); I had help on the desk by Hazel Cox and Jill Phillips who assisted in raising £67 for Charity (Children’s Hospice South West); Maxine in the office and Matt the chef for being so accommodating to our food requirements. It was fun for me, despite not playing!
Now for the serious bit - the winners were Jackie Hallett and Andrea Jordan both from Stockwood Vale with 34 points - playing off 85% handicap. They are pictured on the first tee, thanks again to Barry, smiling.
Runners up also with 34 points, (decided on best back nine) were last year’s winners, Sue Kinch and Cheryl Saunders from Worlebury. For the sake of completion, 3rd was Sue Vowles and Hazel Bevan from Burnham and Berrow with 33. A tight finish indeed. Prizes were awarded for first and second only due to the small numbers of entries. So next year we need to have more of you for more prizes!
In relation to the results, I do need to thank Janet Fear for meeting me ahead of the fixture and for coming in twice on competition day to help with the results. Without her knowledge and expertise, I think we would all still be there waiting for the results! Thank you Janet.
Happy golfing for the rest of the year Ladies, hopefully see more of you at future meetings.
