Summer Meeting - Tall Pines 18th June 2025
|
The 4BBB (enter in pairs) was held in intense sunshine. I don’t normally concern my report with weather descriptions, however it was on the first day of that really hot hot weather, some said it was 33’. I watched most of them stagger off the 18th and down iced water by the pint and felt nothing but pride on the tenacity and achievement of these ‘experienced’ players battling the weather as well as the course. I applaud you all.
To the results - which are tremendous given the conditions 1st Janet Jamieson (24) and Sue Liddeatt (31) 47 points. (Worlebury) 2nd Mary Beakes (21) and Liz How (18) 45 points. (Oake Manor) 3rd Jackie James (22) and Kath Cox (28) 44 points. (Stockwood Vale) As all team members were from the same club, they will attract points towards the Barber Shield which will be presented at the AGM in October. Many thanks to Tall Pines for their help - especially Nicky (Events Co-ordinator) and Paul Barrington (and his chaps) at the Pro shop who ran the competition for us. Catering and bar staff were friendly and helpful also the condition of the course was acknowledged by all the players. Next stop Burnham & Berrow Channel Course Thurs 11th September 2025. Lastly thanks to my helpers - Elaine, Jill and Kate, without whom this event would not have succeeded. Jane Harries Somerset County Seniors Ladies Golf Association Competitions’ Secretary |
summer bowmaker at wheathill - 20 june 2024On a lovely Summer’s day, ladies gathered for a 3 Ball Bowmaker at Wheathill. The Course was in excellent condition and everyone enjoyed the day.
Thanks must go to the Wheathill Senior ladies who ran the day so efficiently; the Reception desk, on the 1st tee, processing the Results, taking photos and anything else that needed to be done. Thanks also to the Bar and Catering staff who were so helpful and friendly. The Ball Draw raised £30. President Jill Paul presented the Lumley-Frank Trophies and Vouchers to the Winning Team of Janette Stewart, Ann Gates and Jill Byrne of Wheathill with 77 points and Vouchers to the Runners-up; Jan Street, Karen Forward and Fiona Cruse also from Wheathill with 75 points. The number of entries for this Competition was disappointing so I hope we’ll get more support for the Scramble at Mendip Spring on 12 September and the 9 hole AGM Bowmaker at T&P on 17 October. They will be fun days. Jill Paul Senior Ladies' President |
